FIRE!! Monday, May 14 2007

Raging Inferno At Murano Condos! On May 10th the Murano Condominiums Project in Silverado Ranch, near Maryland Parkway was wiped-out by a fire! This project was nearly halfway sold out and nearing completion. 147 units were reduced to ash and cinder by the raging inferno that caught the eye of most of the news agencies in Las Vegas.

Reportedly flames of up to 30 feet in height steadly consumed the area as over 60 fireighters battled the blaze on Wednesday May 10th. Although a through investigation was underway as soon as the area was stable it still is unknown what caused the fire. Workers who were on site wednesday morning have been questioned and many witnesses have been asked what their opinion was and if they saw anything unusual.

What is known at this time is that Lan Terra Developments has released a statement saying that buyers will receive a refund, as there are no plans to rebuild at this time. This project was an Urban Village project off strip in a nice location for family buyers. They had a decent price point starting around $300,000 and it is assumed that someof the buyers will look at projects like Sullivan Square and Manhattan West who have similar price points and amenities. Although Brickwater is closer to the same geographic area and has better access to the Strip and the i-215 beltway.

W Las Vegas Canceled! Monday, May 14 2007

W Las Vegas-a Strip Project!

A high profile condo project on the Strip is being canceled.  The W Las Vegas was supposed to go up on 50 acres of land near Harmon. This does not bode well for other high profile projects like Project City Center and Cosmopolitan! Although those other projects are doing strong in sales, does this mean that there aren’t as many nuyers as others have thought

It appears that financial backers have pulled out of the W Las Vegas, and now the project is dead.  There is no word on what is being planned for the location now.

A strong sentiment here at ‘the las vegas real estate showroom blog’ is that the “Casino Condos” don’t have the draw or staying power that Urban Villages do. They are not creating anything more then more rooms on the strip for people to stay in, regardless of whether they come here for weeks a year or not. And that is not what is needed, what is needed is an advanced sophistication for teh living styles of Las Vegas…Urban Villages.

Projects like Manhattan West, Sullivan Square and Brickwater are delivering a high quality, neighborhood lifestyle unlike anything ever avaialble in Las Vegas or Henderson. The Master Plan Communities that ahve been built in the last 20 years have paved the road for this more sophisticated reality and it is the belief of this blog that those projects will provide a much needed “Growing Up” for the City of Sin and Neon.
